Margalit 2013 vintage launch

As every year, the launch of a new vintage at Margalit is a very modest but high-quality event that every local wine-connoisseur should attend.
This year I'm attending it twice: once with my nephew, who asked me to escort him. Then with my wine-friends.

  Grenache 70% ; Chardonnay 18% ; Riesling 12% - from Margalit new vineyard at Zichron Yaacov, Mount Carmel, Samaria - planted at 2010.
  first vintage of Rosé at Margalit.
  light-pale rosé colour
  delicate fruity-floral aroma
  pleasant quality juicy on the palate, very good acidity level, with fine fruity & savoury flavours, well balanced with excellent harmony, medium length semi-sweet & very enjoyable finish.

• 2013 Margalit Cabernet Franc Single Vineyard Binyamina 91 Points

  85% CF (Binyamina vineyard, Sharon) ; 15% CS (Kadita vineyard, Galilee)
  dark opaque red-purple
  intense dark fruity aroma shadowed by the typical 'greenery' of CF
  full bodied, harsh tannins, good acidity level, dominant fruity flavours, almost inaccessible now, takes time to open in the glass, likely to have good ageing potential, excellent harmony, typical character especially in this vintage, med-long tannic finish.

• 2013 Margalit Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard Kadita Vineyard 92 Points

  90% CS ; 10% Merlot (both from Kadita vineyard, Galilee)
  dark opaque red-purple
  elegant delicate fresh fruity aroma
  med--full bodied, softened firm tannins, good acidity level, well balanced and harmonised, round mouth filling sensation from first sip, almost approachable now, seducing and soft character already now, med length finish.

  dark opaque red-purple
  delicate fruity aroma with light spicy hint
  med-ful bodied, high acidity level, firm tannins, well balanced and excellent harmony & complexity, impressing from first sip, lingering finish.
  well crafted wine!

  dark opaque red-purple
  delicate fresh fruity aroma with light spicy hints
  med-full bodied, firm tannins, excellent harmony & acidity level, very well balanced and structured, complex, fruity and savoury flavours, almost accessible now, but seems to endure many years. wonderful finish.

• 1994 Margalit Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard Kadita Vineyard 88 Points

  transparent red-black colour with brownish rim
  mature tertiary aromas of ripe cherry raisins with jammy notes
  med bodied, soft round integrated tannins, still nice acidity level, still some fruity level, over the peak on the palate, still enjoyable in a way, quite a surprise to realise that this wine held so long!

It's always a great pleasure meeting Yair & Assaf Margalit at this annual event.
The 4 almost-eternal winess (CS, CF, Enigma & CS SR) are very good; really impressing.
This year's surprise was the 1st vintage of Rosé - which came out very good.
And, as always, an old CS vintage, which surprised the few who earned a sip from it - how it kept over 20 years and is still enjoyable in a way...
