Brunellopoli? Dark opaque purple, with tons of dark fruits and eucalyptus notes that remind me more of a Rutherford cabernet, while my tasting partner thought of a Haut Medoc. The 2008 Tenuta Nuova tasted side by side was ridiculously lighter in color. I have never had a 100% sangiovese wine (or another Casanova di Neri Brunello) that looked, smelled or tasted like this. That said, this is a very nice wine and was the group's #2 wine tonight (of 10 brunellos). But very atypical. Winespectator 2006 wine of the year.

Medium scarlet colored. Seeming very typical compared with the 2001 Tenuta Nuova tasted side by side (fairly dark opaque purple).
