Inaugural vintage, vines planted in 2009. Fresh and juicy, attractive hint of residual sugar, lemon and lime fruit, ripe acidity, smoky minerality, hint of peachy softness, no petrol note, nice length. Very pure and quite delicious.
A blend of Sangiovese, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Marsanne and other, undisclosed varieties; 14.9% ABV, bottled August 2011. Pale, bright strawberry colour; attractive nose, soft fruit, perfectly clean, hints of candied violets and smoky oak, currants, complex and harmonious but well-defined, lovely depth; super soft and satiny palate, voluptuous almost, beautifully pure and seamless, the most gentle tannins, ripe and vinous but with lovely freshness, feels like southern Rhône (even if there is apparently no Grenache in the blend) but in a lighter and more refined vein, hint of cola, layered; good length, complete finish with a nice floral lift (rose) and a hint of chocolate, no back-end heat. A unique blend with a unique flavour profile and it works. Really singing tonight.
