Served blind. Pear, lemon, touch of grass and some musky aromas. Palate has nice acidity and the ripeness is well restrained. Not especially recognisable as Viognier but still enjoyable.
AP #5. Smoke, lemon, orange rind and peach. Some definite fruit richness that is carried well with a tangy acidity. The residual sugar is apparent but not the dominating force. A real moreish quality about it and good length. Very young still, I'll try to hold onto my next bottle for as long as I can!
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Dense nose with licorice, earth and cloves. The fruit on the palate feels less dense but it is still quite bold and forward. Strong tannins do keep the fruit in check and a feeling that it has good potential. Score is for now with upside definitely possible.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru
Musk, raspberry, strawberry and spice. Fairly delicate on the palate with more of the red fruit of the nose coming through. Good flavour intensity and length. Not one for the long term but showing well now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Fairly tight nose with earth, iron and spice. Good balance on the medium bodied palate. I think it should come around but it isn't expressive at the moment.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Graphite, earth, cherry, savoury spice and meatiness. Excellent texture and more of those savoury fruits and spice that were on the nose. Good tannin and flow. Still has brightness to it and I think it'll develop further over 6-7 years.
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Chocolate, earth, cola, tar and dark cherry with a stalky background character. Rich on the palate, but that stalk note is there as well and it helps it from feeling too plush or dense. Easy to drink but has character as well.

Nutty, menthol, alcohol, durian and wood. Really overtly sweet, feels a bit cloying in fact. Doesn't have spark or brightness. Didn't enjoy.
