Tregnano, Italy

After meeting with the family at Dal Forno, this was the local restaurant Romano had suggested previously and has become a standard for some of our group.
Several courses, many of them included, but I had the orange glazed duck breast for dinner. It was ok. The roasted fennel was delicious. The inexpensive wines were the best part.
Could be worth staying here during the next VinItaly.

2011 Gini Soave Classico Contrada Salvarenza Vecchie Vigne
Italy, Veneto, Soave Classico
Light Amber color; waxy, nutty, melon, pear, almond, malo and lees; fuller for Soave, still nice crispness, nice stuffing; good.

2011 Marion Valpolicella Superiore
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Valpolicella Superiore
Crimson garnet to rim; tart currant, boxwood, spicy, more rustic but very refined; plate has polished tannin, solid mid; poured next to Quintarelli you could definitely see the similarity and influence of the teacher, good but with time this will be brilliant.

2006 Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Valpolicella Classico Superiore
Nice deep Crimson; nose has currant, boxwood, some dried fruit, deep and complex but still very youthfully pent up; palate is very compact and youthful, super mid, savory and rich; I prefer these with more bottle age but it was quite tasty.
