  • 2009 The Mascot 91 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    (4/14/2015)

P'nP: dark color. Nose of black currant, vanilla, cherries. Still tannic, less power than the 2008. actually I do think the wine changed quite a bit against the 2008, it feels that the 09 is more elegant but at the same time lacking the power, complexity and depth of the initial offering. I will retaste shortly but at the current phase falls a bit behind expectations. On the next bottle I'll give a 2-3 hr decant...

  • 2012 Decoy Merlot 86 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County

    (4/14/2015)

nose of raspberry, sweet merlot finish. All a bit simple and boring. It is a decent wine but I would rather put $20 more on the table and go for the Duckhorn or even better for the Matanzas Creek which costs less than $30.

  • 2012 SLO Down Wines Sexual Chocolate 85 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    (4/15/2015)

I actually purchased the bottle because the label caught my interest. Cost $27.99. nose of sweet plum yelly. Sweetness continues in the mouth, reminds of grape juice. Good structure and easy drinking but very one dimensional on the sweetness. Crowd pleaser. The name and the label is defenitely more interesting than the wine itself. Would not buy again. Poor pqr. Drink now
