2012 Montsecano Pinot Noir 86 Points

Chile, Casablanca Valley

Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Medium ruby colour. It has visible legs
Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of Ripe raspberry, baked red cherry, redcurrant, blackberry, secondary aromas of smoke, toast, toast, toast, cloves and tertiary aromas of earth.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium Ripe/Soft tannins and a Medium(+) Level of alcohol (13.50%). It has Medium(+) body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of Ripe raspberry, baked red cherry, redcurrant, blackberry, secondary flavours of toast, smoke, cloves and tertiary flavours of earth. The finish is Medium. It has ripe fruit character and chalky tannins.
Overall: Alcohol a bit hot and sticks out, shortish finish, lacks concentration
Conclusion: It is a Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing lacks concentration and tannic structure to improve with ageing.; Premium priced (£27.25)

2007 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 90 Points

Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Pale garnet colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium intensity primary aromas of cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry, redcurrant, secondary aromas of toast, smoke, cloves and tertiary aromas of earth, leather.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a High level of acidity. It has Medium grippy tannins and a Medium Level of alcohol (12.50%). It has Medium body and Medium intensity primary flavours of redcurrant, cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, red cherry, secondary flavours of cloves, toast, smoke and tertiary flavours of leather, earth. The finish is Long. It has ripe fruit character and grippy tannins.
Overall: Good long finish, complexity provided by primary, secondary and tertiary characteristics, high acidity balanced by tannins. Oak well integrated.
Conclusion: It is a Very Good quality wine. Can Drink Now but has Potential for Ageing Has tannins, acidity, fruit concentration and complexity to improve with limited further ageing: 3 - 5 years ; Premium priced (£45.00)

2012 Rolly Gassmann Pinot Noir Alsace 85 Points

Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Pale ruby colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Youthful, showing Medium(-) intensity primary aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, violet.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium(-) Unripe/Green/Stalky tannins and a High Level of alcohol (14.00%). It has Medium(-) body and Medium(-) intensity primary flavours of redcurrant, raspberry, violet. The finish is Medium(-). It has simple fruit flavours and unripe, grippy tannins.
Overall: Simple fruit flavours, short finish, high acidity out of balance and quite thin, lacks complexity.
Conclusion: It is a Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing This lacks the concentration and tannic structure to improve with age. ; High priced (£14.95)

2012 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Clos Blanc de Vougeot 92 Points

Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Pale lemon colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Pronounced intensity primary aromas of melon, lemon, pineapple, secondary aromas of toast, smoke, vanilla, butter, cream and tertiary aromas of hazelnut.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a High level of acidity. It has a Medium(+) Level of alcohol (13.50%). It has Medium(+) body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of lemon, green apple, melon, secondary flavours of brioche, toast, wet stones, vanilla, butter, cream and tertiary flavours of nutty, honey. The finish is Long.
Overall: High acid balanced by full body, oak and fruit; very long and complex, good concentrtion of flavours. Oak could integrate further.
Conclusion: It is an Outstanding quality wine. Can Drink Now but has Potential for Ageing This has the acidity and concentration of fruit flavours to improve with ageing over 10 - 15 years. The fruit and oak will integrate.; Super-Premium priced (£75.00)

Overall: Moderate intensity and complexity from oak, good typicity for entry level burgundy, high acidity sticks out a bit, shortish finish.
Conclusion: It is a Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing The wine lacks intensity and complexity to improve with ageing; Premium priced (£22.00)

It has ripe fruit character.
Overall: Long complex finish, good complexity from fruit, oak, MLF. Good typicity. Good balance between fruit and acidity.
Conclusion: It is a Very Good quality wine. Can Drink Now but has Potential for Ageing Has structure, concentration and complexity to improve with 2 - 3 age.; Premium priced (£29.95)
