Pale steely straw; grassy, grapefruit, lime, chives in back with some crème fraiche; grassier than most [from NZ], musky, no mineral, lime pith; styled more like a Sancerre than more NZ SBs, thought this was either Greywacke or Cloudy Bay.
USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands
Brighter red core with paler rim; very cherry, taut, smoke, pomegranate, ripe but fresh; more medium bodied, higher alcohol, slight medicinal, sweet cherry, almost cranberry, longer finish; mine.
Much lighter extraction than previous, reddish orange core with very pale rim; sour cherry, griotte, smoky, cranberry; high acid, sour fruit, fresh, not mineral driven; ok; said it was either diluted Oregon or Marlborough Pinot Noir.
Dark garnet, bright maroon rim; sweet blue fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant, obvious oak, smooth texture, clove; soft texture, some heat, blue and soft dark fruit, medium body; some on Zin but this was obvious Napa Cab for me-'12; the 2010 seemed to be much better.
Garnet core, some clarity, dark crimson rim; ripe, age, raspberry, slight stewed cherry and currant, green pepper, pencil shavings, vanilla, clove; fuller body, finally a mid palate, ripe, stewed fruit from age; very good; called '07 Napa Cab blend.
Dark garnet core with brighter garnet rim; blueberry, clove, plum, waxy red fruit, deep, smoky, plush, blackberry, green pepper; lots of fruit on the palate, good acid, nice texture, currant, smoky finish, nice balance; solid; was on Napa Bordeaux blend; tastes more like $40 than $25.
Light straw with green hues; funky nose (GA clay?), sweet, coconut, some sour yellow/green fruit; palate is a lot sweeter and denser than nose suggests, pear, sweet green fruit; palate is better but peach and raspberry pound cake redeems; better example than last one, nailed it.
