2009 red 1ers and Grand Crus seem shut or shutting down at the moment but lower down the pecking order a couple of Villages were drinking well ... Drunk over three evenings ...
2009 J. Confuron-Cotetidot Vosne-Romanée 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
A bright red colour. Bright and lifted on bouquet, aromas of red cherries, raspberries and strawberries. On palate, silky and polished, flavours of ripe red cherries. Very Vosne. Juicy, succulent fruit, largely red, not dark, berries but reasonably complex for this level and age. Some hints of warm earth, darker fruit, dark chocolate and savoury nuances. A suggestion of stem inclusion. Good depth and fruit weight. Relatively accessible now, but would cellar for 10+ years easily, I would think.

2009 Maison Jessiaume Morey-Saint-Denis Les Herbuottes 89 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis
A darker, blacker red. A nose of dark cherries, black, damp earth and a little mushroomy funk. Also a little funky on palate, flavours of dark soil, wet undergrowth, creosote, soy and largely dark fruit. More Morey. A herby, black tea, slightly vegetal component (not green, or said as a negative) and savoury, with the suggestion of stems here too. Prominent acids (reasonably AFWE), with crunchy fruit and firm (but not rustic) tannins. Good depth and structure. Good QPR. Again, reasonably accessible now, but would be an interesting wine to cellar say 5 to 8 years.
