Flight 1 - Whites to Start (2 Notes)

  • 2008 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet 94 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru

    This had been open ~30 minutes before I was served. Reserved aromatics to start, with floral, spice and ripe orchard fruit emerging with more time in glass. Similar flavor profile that also unfolded and expanded with more air. While the flavors and aromas are in the forefront, great textures and energy are equally outstanding. are This is just a baby with great upside potential from here.

  • 2006 François Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 95 Points

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

    Green apple and lemon aromas with floral hints. Ripe and intense apple and pear flavors with great oystershell and mineral character throughout. Very long and energetic with some lemon and lemon peel at the finish. This is an '06 with lots of life going forward.

Flight 2 - Arnoux RSV (2 Notes)

  • 2001 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru

    Maturing red cherry and berry with lots of baking spice. Excellent when first poured. Modest structure. Still very nice after an hour+ in glass, but much less interesting.

  • 1999 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant 95 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru

    First time I can ever recall trying this wine and it is stunning. Bright red fruit with intense baking spice. Layers of evolving flavors with great concentration. Unmistakably Vosne from the very first sniff and then unmistakably Grand Cru from the first taste. Great now, but with the bones to cellar for another decade or two.

Flight 3 - 2007 Grand Cru to Finish (2 Notes)

  • 2007 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes Mares 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru

    Good red cherry with spice hints and an emerging earthiness. Lighter styled for Bonnes Mares, this is prototypically 2007 in its forward character.

  • 2007 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

    Forward red berry and cherry aromas and flavors. Open an hour before served, the spice, perfume and density improved with more time in glass. Very good now.
