Some bottles from my cellar. For all participants except me, it was a completely blind tasting with no particular theme.
Consistent with previous notes. I can add some chalky minerality and slightly drying bitterness in the finish. Still ok if you like the slightly oxidized style, but time to drink up.

In the bouquet grapy but also a bit rustic. On the palate grapy as well, which is the pinot gris I suppose, pear, sweet apples, some honey, hay, and light acidity. Ok fresh acidity. See also previous notes.

Lactic bouquet with a lot of cherries, red berry fruits and some mint. On the palate primary cherries, a firm amount of ok acidity and some slightly drying tannin. Ok quite basic wine.

The bouquet is still a bit locked, but there are some cherries. On the palate cherries, some salty licorice, firm acidity and tannin. Day 2 the wine was much more open and friendly. A light weight Barolo. Nothing to write a book about, but certainly an ok wine. Waiting one or two years is enough.

In the bouquet dark forest fruits, some cherries, earthy flavors, some spiciness, coffee, chocolate, truffle and a touch of barnyard that blows off after a while. On the palate a mature wine with still some dark and red fruits like blackberries, some earth, firm acidity and tannin with still some bite. Not extremely complex, but certainly a very ok wine. Ready now and the next few years.

Beautiful and mature bouquet with earth, leather and tobacco as well as a bit rustic. On the palate mature with chocolate, but also still some dark berries and spiciness, good acidity and slightly sticky and drying tannin. Fully mature wine and completely ready, but no real hurry either.

Mature bouquet with some cassis, earth, mushrooms and forest floor. On the palate also mature and not extremely concentrated, some red fruits, chocolate, spiciness, earth, ok acidity and slightly drying tannin. The wine is at its peak and although the tannin still has some bite the wine will not improve anymore. Drink within 2 years is probably the wisest thing to do.

At first the bouquet is a bit dusty, but there are ripe mainly red berry fruits as well. A few hours later earth, beautiful oak and some smoke also. On the palate creamy red fruits, some spiciness, salty licorice and espresso, firm but good, juicy acidity and pleasant mature tannin. Completely ready now and the wine will not improve anymore, but there is also no great hurry. Drink within the next two years. 88 – 89 still, but it can only go down.

Concentrated bouquet with orange peel, tangerine, polishing wax and caramel. Same impressions on the palate, a firm amount of sweetness, nicely balanced by lemon acidity. Age is beginning to show just slightly. Still a beautiful and concentrated wine with good freshness.

The color is still very light golden yellow. I did not make many formal notes on this wine. Elegant bouquet with yellow fruits. On the palate honey, apricot and a good amount of acidity to balance the sweetness. Really lovely and elegant wine. Still youthful. 91+

2009 Schloss Lieser Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett 88 Points
Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
In the bouquet a bit more locked than the basic Kabinett, minerals as well and no petrol (yet). On the palate pear, good acidity and some pleasant sweetness. A bit more focused and more minerals compared to the basic Kabinett. Beautiful wine in its early maturity stage. Can easily last until 2020+ 88+ for tonight
