Introduction

Maximiniano is one of the owner of this new mendoza Bodega. Named Huarpe after the indians that ocuppied that land on the foothills of the Andes.

    Argentina, Mendoza

    Expand wine store- Bodegas Huarpe Tasting with Maximiniano.
    From straw to yellow with some greenish reflex, this bright chardonnay is a very good value. Very similar to Catena Chardonnay that's double the price. Plenty of complex citric and pear on the nose, exploded after 30 minutes on the glass. Some vanilla and coconut from some very well handled oak and a slight butter on the aftertaste. Good persistence and very well balanced. Very fresh from some herbaceius notes too.

    Expand Wine store Bodegas Huarpe tasting with Maximiniano - Deep rubi red, not a lot of complexity on the nose, just the same black fruit from cabernet and a little herbaceous and toastes notes. Medium body, short finish, won't survive very long.

    Expand Wine Store Bodegas Huarpe tasting with Maximiniano - Huarpe is the top wine of the house, a Cabernet (80%), Malbec (20%) blend made with the best barrels from the top vintages as explained by the owner himself. He revealed that the final %s on the blend was long discussed among the partners and that for the next one the Malbec should ocupy a bigger part- wich a definately agree would make a better result.
    After one hour decanting the wine has a very deep red, violet rim color and beautifully bright and silky look. The nose is very complex and aromatic (specially from the malbec), lots of spices and tons of fruit. The palate is first impacted by a sweet atack followed by a balanced mouthfull fruit and spices and a very persistent finish. The aftertaste reveals a very true and nice note of "cravo & canela".

    Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo, Agrelo

    Expand Wine Store Bodegas Huarpe tasting with Maximiniano- Very typical Malbec color, deep red with violet rim. The nose was full of fruit, a sweet atack on the palate, a little rough on the tannins. ok finish.

Closing

Very promissing Bodega. Willbe waiting for the 2004 Huarpe that should bring a different blend with more Malbec.
