I think this is the basic wine and to be honest; it tastes like that. Yellow tropical fruits like pineapple, a lot of fresh citrus, but for the rest nothing exiting. Nothing wrong with it either.

Ripe and creamy yellow fruits in the bouquet. On the palate fairly full bodied with a touch of sweetness, even a bit fat and bitterness in the finish.

Quite expressive yellow tropical fruits in the bouquet. On the palate citrus, pineapple, litchi and apricots. Firm amount of bitterness in the finish. Overall and aromatic and tasteful wine with some sweetness as well. Not very interesting, but definitely a crowd pleaser.

The bouquet is not very expressive. On the palate mainly citrus and almost a bit drying in the finish. Some nuts and oxidized impressions. A special wine. Not sure if it is my style. Could the wine be a bit locked at the moment? Don't know. No score.

Yellow fruits in the bouquet. On the palate tart lime, banana, some butter, bitter and sweetness and maybe even some limestone minerals. Nothing really exiting, but an ok wine.

Completely different from the 2009 vintage. This is definitely a Pinot Noir in color and taste and not a very pleasant one. Red unripe fruits, drying tannin and a bit mean acidity. Nothing terribly wrong, but no pleasure at all.

The first thing this wine reminded me of was a German spätburgunder. The round red fruits, smoky bouquet and taste and the impression of volcanic/stone minerals. However the sweetness was a bit too much to be German. A special wine.

In the bouquet a lot of cherry fruits, a bit stinky and also some metal. On the palate lactic cherry yoghurt impressions, metal and a lot of sweetness. A very average wine, but nothing wrong with it.

Not so many notes, but there are beautiful cherries, sweet spices, good acidity and a very firm amount of sweetness. This was tasted completely blind and the wine was not as impressive as I hoped for.

Lactic, cherry yoghurt bouquet with also impressions of metal. On the palate a bit green and also bananas. A simple uninteresting wine, but nothing wrong with it. Maybe a few years of ageing will help a bit, but this will never be great.

Pleasant bouquet with sweet spices and some chocolate. On the palate soft tannin and pleasant acidity. A beautiful and intense wine. Completely ready now.

Beautiful bouquet with a touch of barnyard. Juicy fruits, silky soft tannin and a lot of sweetness. I had the impression the bottle showed slightly corked impressions on the palate, but not serious enough for not tasting it. Nevertheless I don't score it.

Expressive bouquet with yellow fruits. On the palate a firm amount of tart lemon and green apple. A little sparkle on the palate as well. Very tight with a lot of acidity.

2008 Domaine Philippe Gilbert Menetou-Salon
France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Menetou-Salon
Dark yellow with soft yellow fruits in the bouquet. On the palate creamy and round fruits and also firm acidity. It is either a bit locked or too old. Not sure. No score.
