Just beginning to get interesting and show some nice development. Smoked meats, menthol, and some clays on the nose. Earth-driven tones present. Very dense on the palate, expansive at first. Big but no longer overpowering or offensive like the '05s and younger. Actually quite pretty. Notes of game, fennel, and red cedar. Definitely enjoyable now but should still be left alone for a decade. Actually outperforming the 2000 enjoyed side by side.
Massive bouquet exploding with eucalyptus, menthol, mint, clove, and pine, in addition to ripe currant and blackberry fruit. Warm and expansive. Great on the palate as well, very dense, round, lush. Traces of smoke and graphite too. Definitely enjoyable now, especially for those who take their cabernet young, but this should be laid down for a decade for best results.
Highly expressive and beautiful bouquet: damp coffee grounds, dark chocolate, roast beef, and tobacco. Also quite floral, red roses. Intense blackberry and blueberry. Dense on the palate but also soft, clay soil. Tannins present but well integrated. Smouldering finish of rich berry fruit, meat, and some smoke. Reminiscent of some '98 Pavies enjoyed recently. Great.
Beautiful and expressive bouquet of eucalyptus, gamey meats, mint, menthol, leathers, and ripe black cherry. Red roses. Palate is fully developed and features some tertiary notes. Soft red cherry. In a great place for drinking right now but can certainly hold on longer. Wine of the night spanning l'Evangile and l'Eglise Clinet from 2010 to 1989, slightly more expressive and with better energy than the '89 l'Evangile. Very pretty, very elegant, very good.
Medium intense nose of sweet coffee grinds, damp leathers, clay soil, and robust currant and black cherry fruit. Not as expressive or pretty as the 1990 enjoyed alongside. Interesting read, seems younger than the '90 and maybe somewhat closed up. Surprisingly big.
