Great Rosé champagne. Definitely not in the low dosage nor subtle style. This was a big wine all around. Copper colored, big Pinot fruit, ample cut and bead. Almost a bit over the top with the raw oysters, but still a pleasure to drink. Despite it's size and the sweetness of the red fruits, it's still fairly dry and elegant.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
I still marvel at everything from PYCM. This was the first bottle of his '13 St. Aubin's in which I didn't notice a transient reductive burnt matchstick upon opening. Great right at the get-go. Equal lemon and peach-apple white fruit. Nice acidity balances the luscious glycerine texture and mouthfeel I love in his wines.
Whoa, this was a real over-achiever. I always thought the Viña Real was a big step down from the Imperial Gran Reserva, but this was one of the best Cune's I've had. Tasted blind, I might have guessed high end decades old classified bordeaux. This had it all; fresh sweet elegant red fruit, cedar and cigar box, peat, and perfect balance. I wish I had bought more when the offer came in '13.
