Introduction

my first working with wine seminar

Flight 1 - chablis (5 Notes)

this may have been split into two brackets - so, all the fevre 2009 grand cru's then the les clos from other vintages

Flight 2 - bonneau du matray corton-charlemagne through the ages (5 Notes)

  • 2009 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Medium minus intensity lemon gold, clear with plentiful legs. the wine has aromas of Beurre noisette! vanilla hints, slight ginger bread spice, cedar wood, perfumed floral notes and stone fruit - peach and nectarine. On the palate the wine has medium acid, spice, savoury, nutty, slight burnt butter, long but subdued finish...closed almost. With time slight alcohol warmth and slight citric tang accompanies peadh/stone fruit. A touch of phenolic grip and gingerbread.

Lemon and bright with medium minus intensity. Aromas of butter, hazelnut, stone fruit - peach , over citric tan with slight orchard fruit, vanilla and marzipan. In the mouth there is medium plus citric tanged acid, the wine is quite linear with mineral notes and flavours of apple over stone fruit. Very long finish, not too warm with slight spice. Nice.

  • 2007 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Lemon, bright with medium minus intensity. On the nose there are notes of butter, cream, cinnamon spice, stone fruit over green apple and lemon notes, minerality, a touch of struck match and, odd those this sounds, a certain roundness. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acid, citric tan - more lemon than apple, spice, minerals, low phenolic grip., long finish that carries the tartness and introduces slight oak.

Closing

I can remember very little other than thinking that those these wines were very good there were plenty of Aussie Chardonnays that were knocking at their door...
