France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Côtes de la Charité
From a 0.30ha plot of Pinot Gris vines, fermented and aged in demi-muid for 9-12 months, a 'confidential' production of some 1,500 bottles. Medium yellow colour; fresh and mineral nose with some flowers and fruit; the palate displays nice amd succulent ripe fruit, a soft and juicy texture but with tingling acidity, cool minerals and pleasant bitters; nice length. An attractive curiosity.
Whole cluster. Light and bright Gamay, juicy and fresh, floral and charming, cool and mineral but with a certain generosity, cranberries, light and dry finish, good length.
Very light and fine, feminine and floral, restrained elegance, light-pitched red fruit with a hint of peach, cool granite, gentle skin phenolics, fresh and silky, good length. It is perhaps a bit angular and not as flowing as I would like, in particular on the finale, but the quality is undeniable. It relaxes with aeration (the last glass was the best). Decant if you have the opportunity. Revisit in 2018?
