We all brought some wines blind.
Everything was mixed up and we tasted all wines blind.
We tasted all wines one at a time.
Cos 1990 was corked. Our host went to his cellar and came a few wines later with a surprise bottle: Another Cos 1990. And that one was beautiful! Many thanks!!!
This is the first good quality red wine from Hungary I taste. So in that sense an eye opener. It has fruit (black cherries, blackberries and cassis), some leather and a fairly high acidity level. Blind I would guess a CS/Sangiovese blend, but it is 100% CS. There is also a hint of acetone, but not really disturbing. It is quite complex, especially in its fruit. The tannin is still youthful, so a few more years of cellaring will not be a problem.

Deep and expressive bouquet with at first something musty/dusty, but that luckily disappeared quickly. Mostly cherries in the taste. A lot of bitterness like in laurel liquorice in the finish. A bit one-dimensional. I am not sure. This wine might be on its way down. On the other hand it is still powerful, so if it softens a bit more there might be more complexity. In some cases 1993 was a strange vintage and this wine might be one of them

Inviting mature bouquet; smoky, tobacco. The taste is quite complex and mature. There still is a little cassis fruit and good acidity. At the end of its mature life and still very nice drinking. Powerful enough to stay on this level some more time, but it will probably not improve.

Expressive bouquet with cassis, blackberries, vanilla and toasted oak. Full bodied with loads of fruit. Firm but soft tannin. Ok sweetness and a lot of bitterness in the aftertaste. Modern style wine.

Blood, sweetness, ripe black cherries and polished oak in the elegant bouquet. Very juicy with a lot of sweetness and alcohol. Very soft tannin. Some clove. Very soft and round in all aspects. Extremely full bodied. Will probably gain with ageing.

Soft and round bouquet with milk chocolate. Supple and quite much sweetness. Juicy wine with soft ripe fruits and tannin. A bit sweeter and softer than the first wine of this domain. Completely ready, but there is enough concentration to store it a few more years. Definitely an excellent wine and I score it accordingly. For my personal taste the sweetness is a bit too overwhelming.

The bouquet of a good Bordeaux. In the taste however the acidity is quite dominant (in a positive way) So, tasting it blind, Italy came into mind. Juicy wine with a lot of cherries. Good tannin. This wine will improve the next 3 - 5 years.

This is a great wine! Elegant bouquet with cherries and beautiful oak. Full bodied. Very juicy fruits. Cherries, leather. Beautiful acidity and tannin. The balance between acidity, sweetness and bitterness is perfect. Extremely long aftertaste while a lot of different tastes keep on coming. Great stuff!

Beautiful mature and refined Bordeaux bouquet; a bit smoky and a little good barnyard. Juicy cassis and black cherries. Good acidity and still firm tannin. A great wine for the vintage. Ready now, but no real hurry.

Enormously corked.....what a great pity.

Does not have that nice bit of barnyard by which I recognize Cos often. Has a quite mature bouquet with cassis and some leather. Juicy cassis, paprika and good acidity. The tannin is soft but has some power left. Definitely an excellent wine, but not of the standard Cos usually is.

A beautiful mature barnyard bouquet. In the mouth the wine is still juicy, but also very mature. Still a bit sticky tannin in the aftertaste. What to say? Ready now, but full bodied enough to last for some more years.

Beautiful, expressive, complex and well balanced bouquet with good barnyard. Very juicy and complex taste with ripe cassis, leather and good oak. Now at a perfect drinking moment, but it will stay on this level for several years more.

Good barnyard and red berries in the bouquet. In the taste firm and juicy cassis. The tannin is still youthful. Complex and excellent wine. Storing this wine for another 3+ years is no problem at all.

While drinking this wine I could not help it that a certain Serge B. came into mind. This is a sexy wine! It is so ready, luscious, soft, full bodied, completely mature, elegant and still powerful. Very tempting and complex, but also accessible. Great!!!

A strange wine; when you put your nose in the glass the first smell is horse stable. But not an ordinary stable; one where the horses use perfume. The bouquet is really complex and luxurious. In the mouth there is a lot of sweetness of soft ripe red and black berries and luxurious oak. The tannin is soft and ripe. The aftertaste is quite long and soft and sweet. My score is not extremely high because one way or another, this wine tastes too polished, too well composed. Not any sharp edge to find.

In the bouquet a lot of primary fruit impressions. Black cherries. A mouth full of wine. You almost need fork and knife. Cherries again. Good oak. Complex. Good stuff.

Sweet and ripe cherry fruit in the bouquet. Extremely full bodied and concentrated. Juicy cassis and blackberries in combination with elegant oak and soft but firm tannin. Elegance and power in one bottle.

Cassis juice. Full bodied and firm. Good bitterness and acidity. Good tannin. Lacks a bit in elegance to belong to the great wines.

A really beautiful and fresh wine. Good citrus, apple and a hint of something exotic; tropical fruits is the best way to describe it. Very pure and elegant wine.

A lot of toasted oak in the bouquet. Also oak in the taste, but beautifully compensated by good acidity, mainly citrus. A lovely, full bodied and complex wine.

Flowers and spicy bouquet like a soft and elegant gewürztraminer. Same in the taste. Very tasteful wine.
