Eight members of erobertparker.com met at the 35TH Street Bistro in Fremont for lunch and Pinot. I thought about ordering one of their fish dishes but thought the Pinot might overpower it so I opted for the burger. Instead, the burger overpowered the Pinot. The burgers there are awesome. So the food pairing wasn't the best but the food was good and the wine was good so it was a very successful afternoon.
With the exception of the first flight, we tasted the following Pinot's blind:
My Favorites:
1. 2005 Kutch Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
2. 2004 Rhys Pinot Noir Alesia Chileno Valley
3. 2005 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Sonoma Coast
Group Favorites:
1. 2004 Rhys Pinot Noir Alesia Sonatera
2. 2004 J. Rochioli Pinot Noir East Block
3. 2005 Kutch Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
2005 Aubert Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard 92 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Medium yellow with a greenish tint. The nose has soft toasty oak, apple, butter scotch, and citrus. The palate has some mouth watering acidity. Full body heavy weight chardonnay. Long finish. Some alcohol showing towards the end.
