Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Much darker, coffee nose. Rich, big, bitter chocolate on palate. Thought maybe new Right Bank Bordeaux, heavy Merlot. Guessed 09 or '10 St Emilion. Totally fooled, but this is a baby. Hold for a while.
Spicy, a bit dirty on the nose. Taste is a bit ripe, has some baby aspirin and mineral. That tipped me to guess Cdp, wrong. Definitely had some age, color change, so guessed '01 CdP. Still, my WOTN and group WOTN.
Moderate color, nose is nice, bit sweet. Good, balanced, has a bit of backbone. This was my wine, so knew what it was, but others were all in Tuscany (if not Chianti). My #3 wine of the night and group #2.
Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Ripe, but not dark. Round, but has some balance. Was thinking Italy, but initially not sure where. Someone said Amarone, and though color says no, taste says yes. Based on that, nailed my guess exactly. My #2 wine of the night.
Dark color. Something says Italy to me on the palate, SuperTuscan, Merlot blend. I guessed 2006 Oreno, just off by a year. Still pretty youthful, but to me textbook Oreno style.
2010 Georges Lignier et Fils Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Light color, nice nose, bright red fruit, a little sous bois. High toned acid. Thought younger Burg, probably south. Guessed 2011 Beaune 1er.

2010 Albert Morot Beaune 1er Cru Les Toussaints
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Great nose and taste. It's bright, crunchy fruit, definitely Burgundian. Has tannin, so thought maybe Pommard due to that and a bit of leanness.
