Introduction

For reasons I won't publish here, my cousin and I were spotted $150 for dinner. Where else would we go but Landmarc, with its affordable wine list?

  • 2002 Newton Chardonnay Unfiltered 94 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    Wow. Thick and buttery (in texture only), hints of citrus and tropical fruits. A good acidity balances this thick, white burgundy-like chard. I was impressed enough to buy 3 bottles online when I got home. My WOTN.

  • 1998 Château Léoville Barton

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

    Tight, tight, tight. As good as Landmarc is, they have crappy stems... and when I asked that this be decanted, they poured it into a carafe. Oh well.

    This wine, even though clearly shut down, showed hints of what it could be as it got some air. I'm not rating it, but I expect it to be a solid bottle of wine in 4 or 5 years.

  • NV Bollinger Champagne Special Cuvée Brut 90 Points

    France, Champagne

    We did things in reverse and finished with a split of the Bollinger Special Cuvee NV. It was good and well worth the $24/375ml price. Suprisingly little nose compared to the strong flavors dominated by apples, with some citrus and a strong acidic backbone. Not for your wedding night, but if you're drinking this every day, you're happy.
