An evening with some friends to try food pairings with sparklers. All this with bearing the price point of the tasted bottles.
Paired with smooked salmon, north sea srimps salad and intense cheese like spanish Manchego. This all worked well together.
Its all about the price point and therefore the noticeable care and ability of producing sparkling wine. The cremant is very good for what it is. (16€ a bottle). Next to this the Maletrez with more structure. (24€ per bottle)
At least two (nearly) outstanding ones. The Brut Rose is my new reference for rose. (my bottle 50€ as an offer, normal price around 65- 70€) The Blanc de Blanc a superb Chardonnay sparkler. (60€ as an offer, normal price about 80€.)

Second bottle within a week, just to compare, again its all about apples, tangy smell, starting with a whiff of yeast, on the midpalate baked and ripe apples, balanced texture, ending with energetic acidity, good+ champagne, for the next few years, **-***, 86-88

2006 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé 93 Points
France, Champagne
Tried this one for the first time, very dark colour, not like a salmon, more like a lighter german black beer, nose starting with toasting bread, raspberry, energetic with great depth, layered, smoky, hints of malt beer, cranberry, bitter liqueur, ending in a long refined finish, delicious bottle, still young, for the next 5+ years, ***(*+), 92-94+?
