Another dinner with Heidi and Fredi, great fun with nice food and fairly good wines. My notes are not very detailed as I concentrated on conversation and my cooking duties.
Wines of the night were the CVNE and the Niepoort Vertente.
NV Henri Goutorbe Champagne Cuvée Tradition
France, Champagne
Clean and fresh but simple and unexciting. I expected a bit more for the price.

2002 Weingut Taubenschuss Riesling trocken
Austria, Niederösterreich, Weinviertel
Like the last time (actually paired with the same dish!). Crisp and clean, very good QPR.

2003 Pöchlinger Chardonnay Smaragd
Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
The most exciting thing about this wine eas its colour: very pale, almost like water. In all other respects nothing to write home about. Nose and palate very light - didn't leave any impressions.

1995 C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) Rioja Viña Real Reserva
Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
Beautiful garnet color, nose of sweet red fruit and a bit of oak, medium body, sweet and focused, still primary, long finish. Very good wine with a promising future. Nice now but should be interesting during the next five years (at least!).

2000 Niepoort Douro Vertente
Portugal, Douro
Very nice colour, fullbodied but not overpowering taste. Beautiful structure, clean with nice acidity, couldn't taste any oak. Long clean finish. Probably at peak now but will keep. I liked it a lot!

2000 Château Bellevue La Forêt Fronton
France, Southwest France, Fronton
Graphite nose, medium body, obviously cabernet sauvignon in the blend. Ok but not exciting. Suffered from the competition with the CVNE and the Niepoort, my fault.
