  Soft yet recognizable Viognier nose. Smoked side but without falling in love with it. A little mineral and with notes of pickles. In the mouth it is quite dead and only saved by a sparkling acidity in the throat. When this bottle have been opened when could be left in a closed thread? We will never know ..
  
  Suave aunque reconocible Viognier en nariz. Del lado ahumado pero sin enamorar. Un poco mineral y con notas de encurtidos. En boca está bastante muerto y solo se salva por una chispeante acidez en la garganta. ¿Cuándo habrá sido abierta esta botella que siendo de rosca se podía haber dejado cerrada? Nunca lo sabremos ..

  Aromas of sap and fennel bring you quickly to all those sensations of SB that your brain stores except for a pastry note that usually is prior to "cat pee". Very off on the palate, watery texture. Absolutely neutral and without a real personality.
  
  Los aromas a savia y a hinojo te llevan rápidamente a todas esas sensaciones de SB que tu cerebro almacena salvo por una nota a pastelería que es previa al "pis de gato". Muy descastada al paladar, de textura acuosa. Muy neutra y sin una personalidad verdadera.

  Scrambled weeds with citrus notes on the nose. Maybe some chalk and jasmine too. Very flat in the mouth. No depth or persistence.

  Not even when it is chilled, this Chilean SB escapes from cat pee. It would save by those notes of sweet anise. I almost prefer it in the mouth where a short acidity is compensated by a delicious bitterness.
  
  Ni aun estando bien fresquito se escapa este SB chileno del pipí de gato. Se salvaría potenciando un poco más esas notas a dulce de anís. Casi lo prefiero en boca donde una corta acidez queda compensada por un delicioso amargor.

  Very smooth. Just memories of salt and some vermouth herbs notes. On the palate is tannic and reserved. At best, refreshing for its acidity.

  This is a cosecha range actually. Softie, uncomplicated Rioja here. Aromas of ashes and little more. On the palate you can guess its typicity just because that high acidity. I am over this, sorry.
  
  Esta selección es en realidad un vino de cosecha. Aquí tenemos otro ejemplo de un Rioja suavecito, sin complicaciones. Aromas a cenizas y poco más. En boca puedes adivinar su origen solo por su alta acidez. El vino no ofende a nadie pero estoy fuera de todo esto, lo siento.

  Recognizable shiraz on the nose with spicy notes and some petrol. Fat and very serious, tannic even in the mouth. At this point scratches a little on the throat but not annoy at all.
  
  Reconocible shiraz en nariz con notas picantes y a petróleo. Gordo y muy serio, tánico incluso en boca. A estas alturas rasca un poco en la garganta pero no molesta.

  Very CF-like both, nose and palate. Little spiced but soft and almost resolved in the mouth. Any complexity here. In spite the vintage, a very ordinary Bourdeaux.
  
  Muy a Cabernt Franc en ambos, nariz y paladar. Un poco picante y casi resuelto en boca. No hay complejidad alguna. A pesar de la añada un Burdeos de lo mas corriente.

  Belonging to the same group of uncomplicated wines British Airway is serving in the Heatrow lounge. Not a bad policy but a disaster for real aficionados.
  Softie, aromas of gunpowder, short and without any length. Lots of samples like this. Any personality.
  
  Perteneciendo al mismo grupo de vinos sin complicacuones que BA está sirviendo en su sala de Heatrow. Es es que sea mala política, es que deja fuera a los verdaderos aficionados. Que le vamos a hacer.
  Suavecito, aromas a cerezas y pólvora, corto y sin complejidad alguna. Hay montones de ejemplos así. Ninguna personalidad.

  Flying over mediterranean sea at 33 k feet. Cereals and citrus predominate on the nose refreshesing the upper palate but stays a bit short IMHO.
  I hope the bottle that I have in my cellar since January 2013 will offer some complexity, not only good aromas, for next Christmas. Dosage 9 g/l.
  
  Volando a diez mil metros sobre el Mediterráneo. Cereales y cítricos predominan en nariz en boca refresca la parte alta del paladar pero se queda un poco corto.
  Espero que la botella que tengo en mi bodega desde enero del 2013 Ademas de aromas ofrezca algo de complejidad estás próximas Navidades.

• 2014 Viña Sutil Carménère Aluvios de Tingui

  Dark as the gates of hell. Very camenere this time with marked aromas of chocolate, plums and other black fruits like green currants, also of fireworks. At the end it smells like Chile.
  Wood, unfortunately, excels in the set. In the mouth it is firmly tannic, with a chocolaty aftertaste. I have taken better examples in Colchagua.
  
  Oscura como la boca del infierno. Muy camenere esta vez con marcados aromas a chocolate, a ciruelas y otras frutas negras como grosellas verdes, también a fuegos artificiales. Al final huele a Chile.
  La madera, por desgracia, sobresale en el conjunto. En la boca es firmemente tánico, con un postgusto achocolatado. He tomado mejores ejemplos en Colchagua.

• 2009 Bodegas Montecillo Rioja Gran Reserva

  After the recent tasting of oldie Montecillos, a bit disappointing I have to say, welcome to the real world.
  Darker than a monkey's ass, fortunately it does not smell like that but red onion (!) and mango skin. The first time I smell those in a Rioja wine, will it be the altitude? In the mouth it is very dry, short and full of currants. A hard-to-classify bottle.
  
  Después de la reciente cata de Montecillos viejunos, un tanto decepcionante, bienvenido al mundo real.
  Más oscuro que el culo de un mono, afortunadamente no huele a eso si no a cebolla roja (!) y a piel de mango. La primera vez que huelo eso en un Rioja, ¿será la altitud? En boca es muy seco, corto y lleno de grosellas. Una botella difícilmente clasificable.

  A pale metallic yellow colour. Honestly it smells like a Rueda wine. Those fennel and those bitter anise notes. No place like home. As expected in the mouth is very short and a little tannic but still nice. I understand what's looking the BA sommelier.

  Slap of Butter at the beginning. Aroma diluted to a fused match and white sap. Very soft in the mouth with a too marked acidity when it finishes. Nothing memorable here but comfort.

  Served by the glass. The real thing. Still a baby but at the same time a delicatessen on the nose where aromas of apricots predominates over peaches and white flowers. On the palate you can feel its potential, a dry wine with that sweet touch, full of umami. Plenitude in five years or so.
  
  Por copas. Esto es otra cosa. Todavía un bebé pero al mismo tiempo una delicadeza en nariz donde predominan los aromas a albaricoques sobre los melocotones o las flores blancas. También me pareció encontrar algarroba madura pero a Gaston no le gusta ese olor en sus vinos así que, olvídalo. En boca puedes sentir su potencial, un vino seco pero con ese toque dulce lleno de umami. Su plenitud en unos cinco años.

  IMHO more a curiosity touched by grapefruit and anything else. Firmly acid. Fine aftertaste. Little short. Just fair at its best but perhaps the weak wine of the tasting.

  One of Gaston's experiments. Not for sale. Still deciding if to mix different terroirs of carignan or to bottle them separately.
  The result is good, plenty of typicity and fine elements. Just needs to be polished. Quality carignan indeed.
  
  Uno de los experimentos de Gaston. No para su venta. Todavía está decidiendo si mezclar diferentes terrenos de Cariñena o si embotellarlos de forma separada y ofrecerlos en cartones de tres diferentes.
  El resultado es bueno , lleno de tipicidad y ricos elementos. Solo necesita ser pulido. Una Cariñena de calidad sin duda.

  From a 375 ml sample. Another Gaston's experiment. Same idea as Carignan tasted previously.
  In my view less adequate because CS is there alright but where is typicity? I mean, this wine is well-made but there's not soul at all. Meaty, plums and black currants in an international style.
  
  Procedente de una media botella nueva. Otro experimento de Gaston con la misma idea que para la Cariñena.
  Desde mi punto de vista menos adecuada porque la CS está ahí más, ¿dónde rueda la tipicidad? Quiero decir, el vino está bien hecho pero carece de alma. Cárnico, con ciruelas y grosellas negras en un estilo internacional.

  One can feel the complexity and purity developing. At least has the potential. Truly recommended.

  Elegance in one word. Natural elegance.
  Every element well-balanced. Some point just right in between Bordeaux and Rioja. Aged to perfection but still a long way to run.
  Cornucopia of aromas: orange peel, cherries, flesh, among many others.
  Pure silky texture on the palate. Feminine indeed.
  Since twenty five years always my sort of wine.
  
  Servido por copas de una botella nueva de 375 ml.
  En una palabra, elegancia. Elegancia natural.
  Cada elemento bien equilibrado. Un punto justo entre Burdeos y Rioja. Envejecido a la perfección pero todavía con un largo camino por correr.
  Cornucopia de aromas: cáscara de naranja, cerezas, carne, entre muchos otros.
  Pura textura sedosa en el paladar. De hecho, femenino.
  Desde hace veinticinco años siempre la clase de vino que me va.

  their comments went to acidity, light bodied, slight oaky, elegance, presence of Grenache ... In some aspects remembered as an old Château Musar according with Gaston point of view.
  I am glad to obtain new vision on Rioja wines.
  Whats about me? This is excessively young for me but enjoyable right now.
  
  Compartida con Gaston y su enólogo.
  Sus comentarios fueron para la acidez, el cuerpo ligero, la sensación ligera a roble, la elegancia, la presencia de la garnacha ... En algunos aspectos recordaba a un viejo Chateau Musar según el punto de vista de Gaston.
  Me alegra tener una nueva visión sobre los vinos de Rioja.
  ¿Qué pasa conmigo? Esto es excesivamente joven para mí, pero bastante agradable en este momento.

  Popcorn and little dark fruit. The palate was very young and extremely dry, although it seems to have a long life ahead. This particular vintage causes me serious doubts but I believe in the label.

  Another serene example of a blended wine showing in the mouth very tasty and abundant on the nose. Pretty full-bodied calling for reflection.
  A very serious wine. Recommended.
  And even if it is only for a contribution of 15% I think it can stand out without flushing:

  Otro sereno ejemplo de un vino de mezcla donde en boca es sabroso y en nariz abundante. Bastante cuerpo que llama a la reflexión.

• 2013 Massaya Terrasses de Baalbeck

  Supposedly a second wine but still being young shows a certain appeal that allows you to play with older children.
  Not bad for a blended wine where the garnacha prevails on the nose. The set is pleasant, with a body but a lovely entrance into the mouth. It has length and good acidity. We will have to see how it evolves. As they say, there is no bad garnacha. I have to try the "grand vin"
  
  Supuestamente un segundo vino pero aún siendo joven muestra un cierto atractivo que le permite jugar con los niños mayores.
  Nada mal para un vino de mezcla donde la garnacha prevalece en nariz. El conjunto es agradable, con cuerpo pero de una agradable entrada en boca. Tiene longitud y buena acidez. Habrá que ver cómo evoluciona. Como se suele decir, no hay garnacha mala. Tengo que probar el "grand vin"

• 2016 Château Ksara Blanc de Blancs

  Neutral white wine. Chardo predominates all the way at the no-contribution side. High acidity without a real course.
  Little boring at its best.
  
  Un tímido vino blanco, neutral. La chardo predomina todo el rato en el lado de la no-contribución. Alta acidez sin un rumbo real.
  Un poco aburrida si acaso en el momento más álgido de la cata.

  Served by the glass from a new bottle. Too obvious, every element goes in its own way. There is no connection at all. What should be exoticism becomes fatigue. Is my taste tired at this point?
  In fact I bought a bottle of this label but the 99 so ...
  
  Servida por copas de una botella nueva. Demasiada evidente, cada elemento va a su aire. No hay conexión. Lo que debería ser exotismo se transforma en cansancio. A estas alturas ¿tengo el paladar fatigado?
  De hecho he comprado una botella de esta etiqueta pero del 99.

• 2004 Château Ksara Moscatel

  It is sweet alright but too obvious moscatel, without an cleaning acidity so very very bored. In Spain this kind of wines cost less than 10€ and are coming from Valencia.
  
  Es un vino dulce, de acuerdo, pero una moscatel demasiado obvia pero sin una acidez que limpie la sensación empalagosa no hay recorrido. En España esta clase de vinos por menos de 10€ y vienen de Valencia.

• 2016 Château Ksara Gris de Gris Rosé

  At lunch time pairing some local dishes in Al Shams, Zahle.
  More a curiosity than a super wine well made with Grenache Gris and Carignan.
  Don't look for complexity here but a decent rosé with a high acidity.
  
  A la hora del almuerzo emparejando algunos platos locales.
  Más a la curiosidad que un vino súper bien hecho con Grenache Gris y Cariñena.
  No busque complejidad aquí, sino un rosado decente con una alta acidez.

• 2016 Château Kefraya La Cuvée de Roussalka

  Boring nose to SB with the usual fennel aromas and a punch to chardo little elegant.
  In the mouth is acid and sharp but has an abrupt end that is like the final auction sale, no one cares.
  At Wine Bar in Zahel.
  
  Aburrida nariz a SB con los consabidos aromas a hinojo y un golpe a chardo poco elegante.
  En boca es ácido y punzante pero tiene un final abrupto que es como el remate final de rebajas, no interesa a nadie.
  Servida por copas en el Wine Bar de Zahle.

• 2001 Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva

  Another bottle that has crossed the Mediterranean. Tons of cinnamon, leather, tobacco and marzipan cherry influenced of a bad cork took a more masculine sidewalk, more of iron ore.
  In the mouth it is still very young, with a rebellious acidity and a tannin that still tamed is noticed.
  Shared with George at Wine Bar in Zahle.
  
  Otra botella que ha cruzado el Mediterráneo. Toneladas de canela, cuero, tabaco y mazapán de cereza que por influencia de un mal corcho tomaron una vereda más masculina mas de mineral de hierro.
  En boca todavía es muy joven, con una acidez rebelde y un tanino que aún domado se deja notar.
