Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 2015 West Brook Chardonnay Waimauku 91 Points

New Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Kumeu

Crushed rocks, beautiful buttercream, elegant medium-acid chardonnay with iced, stony lemon curd. High acid. Modest impression of oak.

  • 2016 Chateau Musar Musar Jeune Blanc 89 Points

Sweet peaches with a bit of cream (no oak - but it's ripe), and flowers. Medium body, slightly elevated alcohol, medium plus acid - bright, and modest bitterness. Very nice and fresh. Excellent length.

  • 2013 Chateau Musar Musar Jeune Red 89 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Medium ruby. Vibrant raspberry fruit with a hint of earth. Very nice fruit.
Dry, medium body, slightly elevated alcohol, bright medium plus acid and polished medium tannins. Juicy and fresh, with nice framing of slight earth. Some well-integrated leather and earth.

  • 2008 Chateau Musar 92 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

All the ingredients are there: blackberry, red cherry, fur, earth, VA, some hints of oak spice.
On the palate, vibrant and centered, in the context of Musar. Possibly akin to the '95, 2005.

  • 2007 Chateau Musar 91 Points

Some umami mushroom - more so than the '08. More grippy chewy tannins. Slight oak poking through. More figgy oxidation at this stage. Wet leaves. Significantly more developed than the '08 but the fruit has faded faster than the oak. Needs time.

  • 2000 Chateau Musar 92 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Fruit isn't that strong but it's beautiful - leaves, dried flowers, lambic notes, fur and balsamic, slight tamari cherry. Aromatic and earthy. In a lovely place right now. A "beautiful" burgundian style of Musar.

  • 1997 Chateau Musar 91 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Slight reduction - char. Similar to the '72. Fruit is lighter - not very expressive but maybe it needs air. A Burgundian "Beautiful" style of Musar.

  • 2007 Chateau Musar Blanc 91 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Interesting nose - raw carrot, wax, perfumed yellow apple, slight bruised flower notes. Marzipan.
On the palate, amazing - raw carrot with butter - starting to develop honeysuckle. At the start of it's inflection and delicious on the palate, if a bit awkward on the nose. This will be brilliant.
