France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Very pale. Open and alluring nose, easy, plenty of oak, strawberry fruit. More strawberry fruit on the palate, decent acidity, integrated tannin, lingering creamy, slightly savoury finish
Darker toned fruit, black cherry perhaps, a slight sous-bois edge already. Light and bright across the palate, lovely acidity, medium length finish. Nice now, should improve given 3 years.
Very rustic, farmyard nose, surprisingly evolved (although more fruity when left for an hour or two). Lots of farmyard on the palate too, some red-toned fruit, nicely laid back tannins, reasonable length. Certainly interesting.
Black cherry, some definite farmyard here as well. This seems to have moved on quite a lot in the last 6 months. Red and black cherry on the palate, fine integrated tannins, some farmyard, medium length finish. Certainly more Morey than Fourrier - very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Quite developed, mature nose slightly rustic but sweet. Harmonious, sweet palate, decent acidity for the year, nice savoury maturity, an excellent match for the starter.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Creamy, red toned nose, slightly restrained but very sweet. Strawberry fruited on palate, soft, integrated tannin, pleasant acidity, very Roumier, enjoyable although ultimately lacks a little punch.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Very dark, hardly any rim. Initialy closed, over the course of the evening slowly opening out to reveal iron and rich, dark cherry under a fair amount of aok. Quite rich and brooding on the palate too, plenty of latent quality here, needs a lot more time.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Very light colour, wide rim. Charming and alluring pure strawberry fruit, nice enough, pretty, but a bantamweight (even for the year) and lacking in any real complexity or interest. Disappointing.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Uniquely all from Morey St Denis section of Bonnes Mares. Medium/pale garnet, wide rim. Intense, spicy nose, plenty of terroir, earth, but also quite sweet. More fruity on the palate, plenty of spice, still some chewy tannins but in balance with intense fruit, good acidity and brown sugar finish. Execllent and plenty of improvement in this yet.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Classy, perfumed nose, plenty of meaty complexity, intense and powerful on the palate, but with plenty of grace and a very good length, if still slightly tight finish. Will certainly improve, my WOTN.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Lovely restrained red fruit and spice character, pleasingly lean with gently spicy fruit on the palate, earthy notes, and then some not unattractive dry tannins on the good length finish. A very good 94.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Mm. Very pure raspberry fruit, well balanced with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Drinking quite well, certainly approachable but in truth a little simple and perhaps lacking GC depth. Difficult to judge how this will evolve.

Plenty of CO2 when first opened, again those rustic, farmyardy notes are prevalent on the nose. Quite sweet, red-toned fruit on the palate, enjoyable.

1996 Domaine Fourrier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbes Vieille Vigne Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Corked, not enough to completely hide the class beneath, but enough to render it undrinkable.
