In general the formula here is that the host sets a theme and every participant brings a wine of the theme. The host puts a few extra on the table. We taste all wines blind, knowing our own wines. We first taste a little bit in a random order. Then we decide together in which order the wines will be tasted again and after that revealed. In this group we do not use spittoons, so the number of bottles is limited. We don’t empty the bottles, but leave the leftovers for the host to taste again the next day, or take home the bottle we brought. In fact this easy setting where we taste the wines several times over 4 – 6 hours is the ultimate way to get a good impression of a wine.
1998 Tikveš Kratosija
North Macedonia, Povardarie, Tikveš
Thin, fruity, odd acidity. Cherries. Special and not my style. No score (Or it would be below 80)

1995 Clos du Marquis 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Still very backward. Doesn’t give an inch. Some lead pencil. Full bodied and very concentrated. A lot of good bitterness and tannin. Eventually this will be great.

1996 Domaines Prats Freres 85 Points

Deep bouquet; like a bookcase. Juicy cassis, little lead pencil, walnuts, bitterness. The tannin is a bit drying. Good wine.

Very dark. Beautiful bouquet. A lot of lead pencil like in Pauillac, cassis, sweet liquorice. A lot of good young tannin. A wine with a future.

France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Young, loaded with fruit and firm bouquet. Full bodied and juicy cassis in the taste. This is a very good, but much too young wine.
