Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 1997 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino 93 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

Not decanted. Poured into shoulder and left to audouze for two hours. Consumed over the following two hours. Medium-dark ruby colour. Aromas of cedar, smoke, sottobosco, dark cherry, licorice, and cold espresso. Very powerful nose. Full-bodied, tannins are in check, showing more cedar, dark fruit, and raspberry notes. Moderate-long finish, ~40s, with cedar, sottobosco, and chalk notes. Still needs additional time in the cellar, but this wine could still garner a couple additional points. Really fantastic stuff!

  • 2003 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Completely shut down right now. Tried upon opening, tried decanting - followed over 6-7 hours, and it didn't do a thing. Leave this wine buried deep in your cellar. NR.
