Some impressions of the last weeks
One of the best Kabis evr I had
both need a lot of time
(9/15/2018)
In the beginning too "sweet" but after one hour the wine opens and shows his beauty. Still not balanced and with a razorsharp acidity. Still on the primary notes side, no that creamy and nutty style which you have sometimes in the BW GC, especially Kirchenstück after some bottle aging. 92

Nicely balanced, very dry and some citrus and pink grapefruit notes. Not so spicy and phenolic as the famous Koehler Ruprecht. Very drinkable even in this stage. I wouldn't guess Pfalz in my blind tasting. 92

Keller 2015 Hubacker is a giant

got blindly, I guessed Schäfer Fröhlich Felseneck 2015, delicious wine. Pineapple, guave, passionfruit, but less dominating than usually. EXtract sweetness and a precise acidity. Great structure, decanted only for half an hour. A monster of wine. 94(96)

This time not not precise as the last bottle 6 month ago. Fruit notes in the background, nice earthie- and spicieness. Decanted for two hours, maybe a little too longs. 89-90

Get it blindly. For me too sweet. All other drinkers weren't the same opinion. For me not balanced. I think there was some extract sweetness but there is an acidity lack. We will see what will happen in the next 10 years. 90?

A nicely Nahe Riesling GG from Dönnhoff. 2012 is a vintage I drank not so much. I prefer 09 or 13 from the more recent launched years but this one shows some aging signs but the primary fruit notes are dominating. Tropical fruits, some yuzu and extract sweetness. Pure clean finish. 92-93. At least 5 more years to come

Drank it colder as usually (8° instead of 14°) because I like the Burgundy style of Eben Sadie's white wines. It fitted perfectly to the japanese food with tempura and some fried dumplings and sushi. "Only" 13,5% alc which are perfectly integrated. In this cold stage it was a new experience. One day day later it felt a little bit broader and less lean. Wet stones, creamy but not nutty. the lime notes were in the foreground. 93

Again very strong, ripe red delicious apple, juicy, brioche and the late some pleasant nutty notes. The 2008 vintage shows his power and indulgence and lushieness. Great refreshing acidity. MANy years ahead. Elegant and powerful likewise. In my opinion the right sugar balance. 93+

Wow. I was impressed. Get it blindly in the best Pizza restaurant of Düsseldorf: nine0five.
A friend of mine and me were 100% sure it is Burgundy at least Premier Cru. Rice popcorn, decent vanilla, reluctant almonds, nicely integrated oak. So much power but well balanced with fruit and acidity. So much to come. The best Chardonnay I had from Germany but I had not many so far. Thanks Christoph for sacrifizing one of your 6 bottles. 95+

A nicely aged Pomerol with still dark colour. Black and red berries. Leather, tobacco but with an intact acidity structure. For me at his top. Everything is balanced with ripe tannins giving the wine at strong backbone. Thanks Achim for sharing. 92-93

Blueberries, cherry, forrest ground, violet. It reminds either to a good German PN and to a PC Burgundy. Not so elegant as many french wines but some nice fruits. At his declining top but clean fresh finish. 91

This time not so strong as the two previous encounters. Maybe the Burgundy glas was "guilty". The last times it reminds me to a Krug style. The bottle was filled 1999 and aged a long time on the lees. It was not that precise as I had it in memory. Some brioche, red apples and roasted aromas but the finish is too broad. Have to try again. 91-92

I was really suprised. My friend Philipp from Concept Riesling opened this rare beauty from a perfect bottle. I didn't expect so much but was stunned from this young treasure. Minimal petrol signs but the clean citric finish is overwhelming everything. dry tea leaves, tobacco, wet gravels. The acidity is amazing and it gives the wine the necessary vitality. Thanks Philipp for this phantastic experience. 95

Bottle 1037/2400. A rare grape variety: Neuburger.
Crackingly fresh. Herbal, spicy, wet stones, lime, green apple with a refreshing clean finish, even the mouth feeling is wild and ends with some black tea notes. 90-91

Dark golden in colour but much fresher in palate. Wet stones and a lot of green tea in mid to late palate. Nice starting Risling aging signs but the finish is with cracking citrus notes dominated. I#M not sure if this wine is on is peak or as many other guess still a long distance runner. I would drink now and in the next 2-3 years. Again an awesome wine from 2004. 93

Knowing the producer drank it blindly for site and vintage. I guessed the year but would go for Hubacker. Amazingly fresh with a phantastic acidity structure and some unripe pineapple and mango notes. Juicy, balanced with a lot of power but with a great precision in the finish. Minimal tertiary notes, suprisingly some nuts in the late palate which is not typical for Keller. Starting a great career. 95+

Love this wine. A friend of mine, a well known Mosel expert, couldn't detect the region because the wine is so different to other wines from Mosel. Nearly dry and because it was two years on the lees it is so creamy and fullbodied. It never looses its elegance. Lime cest, peach, pear and a touch of red apple. Herbal. But it was not that "fat" compared to one year ago. 94+

Much better as it was in my memory. Powerful and fullbodied, ripe exotic fruits as passionfruit, guave and pineapple. Very juicy. I heard this bottle was not from a perfect lot. Maybe this is the reason why the wine is so nicely developed for his age. Finely balanced with a refreshing late palate. From a well stored 10 more years ahead. I'm a little bit more convinced from Schätzel wines. 93+

2017 Weingut Knebel Winninger Röttgen Riesling Kabinett 94 Points
