1978 Jordan Vineyard & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 98 Points

Tasting 4 Cabernet Sauvignons, 1978 and 1979 Jordan, 1978 and 1979 Caymus Special Selection, this was the only magnum, an auction magnum for $130 purchased 5 years ago, from my cellar, very floral nose of red bell pepper, blackberry, plum, mushroom, cigar box, and cedar, same on the palate, big body, tasted younger than the other three Cabernet Sauvignons, beautiful fruit, rich and mouth filling fruit, delicious, elegant, the most complex tonight, improved throughout the dinner, went great with In Bone Filet Mignon at Flemings, the best wine on the nose and palate of the group, and long, long, flavorful finish and aftertaste. My #1 and Group #1.

1978 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection 94 Points

Tasting 4 Cabernet Sauvignons, 1978 and 1979 Jordan, 1978 and 1979 Caymus Special Selection, nose of black cherry, plum, blackberry, black currants, and Rutherford Dust, same on the palate, big body, much bigger body than the 1979 tonight and the two Jordans for that matter, very tasty, opened gradually and improved as dinner went on, typical old style Caymus, elegant, classy, mouth filling fruit, long, long, finish and flavorful aftertaste. Tasting 4 Cabernet Sauvignons, 1978 and 1979 Jordan, 1978 and 1979 Caymus Special Selection, nose of red and black cherry fruit, roasted coffee, and red bell pepper, same on the palate, medium/big body, angular fruit, lovely rich fruit to taste, subtle flavors, almost elegant, long, long finish. My #3 and Group #3.

Tasting 4 Cabernet Sauvignons, 1978 and 1979 Jordan, 1978 and 1979 Caymus Special Selection, nose of red and black cherry fruit, cassis, and blackberry, medium/big body, lovely rich fruit on the palate, almost mouth filling fruit, drink this up soon if you own it, very tasty, touch simple, medium/long finish.
