Ah-so, cork removed easily, double decanted. Minimal penetration of wine through the cork. Clear ruby with slight bricking appropriate for its age; medium aromatics with some primary fruit transitioning to leafy sois bois; palate is light bodied, medium-high acid, red fruit, on the simpler side, again just hints of tertiary flavors; medium length finish. This seems young and in transition, and it may never be great but I think it will be better in a few years. Still a good value for $40. 87

Cork removed with Ah-so, well settled sediment. Medium-deep ruby with slight bricking appropriate for age; medium-plus intensity aromatics, milk chocolate, blackberry, spice, some savory umami; palate is full bodied, well integrated silky tannins, slight tart cherry, some black fruit, good length; medium to medium-plus clean cherry finish. Since my last bottle in 2012 this has matured, fruit is quite balanced and not overripe, nice complexity on the nose, palate is a tad simpler but well balanced alcohol and acid. Enjoyable, well made, and does show the common St. Emilion style of lacking forest floor/sois bois of left bank classified growths (ie. a bit more modern, though not to the extent the reputation would suggest). Enjoyable now, will probably last 5 years but I don't expect this to develop additional complexity. 92-93
Moderate aromatics, slight spice, blackberry; palate is full bodied, medium-plus alcohol, moderate tannins well integrated, mature fruit; medium-plus finish. Served with a ‘99 Pavie and these are actually very qualitatively similar. 92
