Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Arturo, you were TOO kind to share this once again! :)
N: Vanilla, earth with cherries & undertones of spice; Intensity lurking? Bananas with addt'l swirling?!?
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt fairly quickly met by a finely tannic, puckerish structure which slowly, fairly seamless morphs into quite a LONG finish with the mid-P *ult* softens to a swtness which is SLIGHTLY atop a very, VERY slight bitterness that, if anything, but elicits another sip. GREAT potential, but NEEDS 'til '22 min, then SAFELY drinking through '27. 14% ABV; EXC-/EXC, with the DISTINCT possibility of a notch or 2 higher down the line. 98 pts Suckling, 92 WE @ $55, 91 WA, 90 WS, & 15.5/20 Jancis Robinson. [As of early Feb '19, wine-searcher still shows a number of U.S. sources from $52-$84.]
Dr. Tom, THANK you for CONTINUALLY expanding my wine horizons! :)
Supposedly 103 g/L R.S. & 4.5 g/L T.A.
P: F, poss MF, body; Rndish entry with SWT frt EXQUISITELY balanced by acidity as it morphs into a LONG, tangy/swt finish with a swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. Just a pup with MANY yrs ahead of it! :) 20% ABV; My EXC/EXC+ with CLEAR potential for more. 97+ John Gilman, 94 pts RJonWine, and 18+ (2x), 18, 17.5+, & 17.5/20 Jancis Robinson, + numerous other solid reviews listed on wine-searcher's "Tasting Notes" pg. [This vendor's $72.95 would appear to be the BEST U.S. price on wine-searcher!]
N: Slightly closed; Earth, poss bacon, some spice? More to give?
P: LM body; NICE frt met by some firming structure & BEAUTIFUL acidity which extends into the LONG, init very, VERY finely tannic finish with ult a MOST pleasant sense of bitterness & a LOVELY tang. Since the mid-P does still have very, VERY fine tannins, I'm thinking this COULD still stand 'til '21 or so, then making its 30th! My EXC/EXC+. 94 pts WA, 17/20 Vinum, but 84 WS.
