Introduction

My anual holidays, need some heat, sea food, delicious fruit and a refreshing sea near by to really relax!

Flight 1 - Emirates (6 Notes)

Had some upgrade for really small money, lounge access for about 100€, Business saver Dubai- Colombo for 150€ each ticket, not earning anything having me on board! ;-)

  • NV Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Impérial 81 Points

    France, Champagne

    (1/16/2019)

In my opinion this is all about marketing!
Served at the Emirates lounge at Hamburg from a freshly opened bottle.
i am really bored, lacking all I do expect from a recommended sparkler, really no tension, maybe somewhat a crowd pleaser for green beginners............, not for me!

  • NV Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Rosé

    France, Champagne

    (1/17/2019)

Served as a welcoming drink entering business class on our way from Dubai to Colombo.
Quiet better as the Moet, fresh red fruit, elegant, still too young with an good acidic bite, nutty, reliable and very harmonic with some aeration! Ordered this one as long as all stocks on this plane were poured! ;-) **(+?), 86- 88?

    Business class emirates:

  • 2016 La Scolca Gavi

    Italy, Piedmont, Gavi

    (1/17/2019)

Served at Business Class Dubai- Colombo:
somehow floral and intense nose, delicate mineralic hints, some pineapple, with more aeration chalky on the midpalate, better with more warming in the glass, enjoy not too much cooled! *(*-***)

  • 2007 Clos du Marquis

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    (1/17/2019)

Served at the Business Class Dubai- Colombo:
a very tasty and harmonic St. Julien, good grip, dense and silky, some floral hints, only light to midweight body, but with an harmonic and delicious black fruit finish, better with some aeration, **(*- +?), 88- 90?

  • 2013 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm 90 Points

Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    (1/17/2019)

Served at the Business Class Dubai- Colombo:
had this one with the mixed grill, mutton kofta, chicken malai kebab and zafrani chicken kheema kebab with dal makhani and vermicelli rice, in two words, GREAT pairing!
superb richness of dark cassis, energetic smoky, roasty, only tamed by the food, would not try to enjoy this one without food, a young tannic tasty fruit blockbuster, *(**+-?), 89,90+?

Flight 2 - BYO, Indian sea (4 Notes)

I do know from last year that Riesling would be a great pairing to fresh sea food, not to be proved again!

Flight 3 - Wine stores at Aluthgama, Sri LAnka (7 Notes)

Very high prices as the Sri Lankan goverment is robbing the people if they like to drink, smoke or buy a Mercedes!
