Fresher colour and nose then the '90 Krug. Nose was youthful with fresh dough and citrus. Palate was perfectly balanced with a creamy mousse. This was the freshest bottle of 90 DP I've had.
Darker in colour than the 90 Dom. Nutty and more oxidative nose with orchard fruit. Palate appeared fresher because of the more elevated acidity. Slightly more aggressive mousse. Both these will go another 10-20 years.
Classic Montrose with that lovely horsey funk. The profile was similar to the Lynch Bages but a bit more power and fruit intensity. In a great place but this can go for decades.
Telltale LB mint/bill pepper on the nose with pencil shavings and that sweet '82 red fruit. Best of palate of the three (82 Montrose & 90 Conseillante) with a polished and soft finish and a hint of powdery tannins. In a perfect spot now.
This was the most youthful of the three (by more than the 8 year vintage difference). Shows its pedigree and vintage character with darker fruits, softer texture and more ripeness. A lot going on here but well stored bottled like this needs 10 years (or more) to show its full potential. 93+
