    PnD let air for 1hr. Tasted blind.

    Fruit forward. Plum blackcherry. Lots of volatile acidity. Racy blackberry finish. Can't get past the acetone notes. Drink up if you have them.

    Guessed new world and Zin.

    Fourth (out of five) favourite of the night.

    Grippy leather cherry and a Parmesan note. Definitely old world. Guessed Italian.

    Showing a lot of tertiary elements for a young wine.

    Third favourite (out of five) of the night.

  • 2004 Grant Burge Shiraz Filsell Old Vine 90 Points

    Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

    PnD let air for 1hr. Tasted blind.

    Dark deep purple. Mushroom soy sauce and blackberry on the nose. Blackberry blueberry touch of smoke and coffee on the palate. Guessed new world and Shiraz.

    Very nice and with some elegance. Fifth favourite of the night (out of five) as just not my style and would be hard to have more than one glass.

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    PnD let air for 1hr. Tasted blind.

    Pale garnet showing some age. Muted sassafras and cherry on the nose. Cherry strawberry and cola on the grippy palate. Minty note on the finish. Guessed old world.

    Second favourite of the night (out of five).

  • 2005 Château Fonplégade 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

    PnD let air for 1hr. after slow Ox in bottle for 2hrs. Tasted blind.

    Medium garnet. Cassis plum and cedar on the nose. Cassis plum cedar and a touch of smoke on the nose. Still youthful with beautiful integration complexity and finish. Picked it out correctly from the line up.

    Can easily go another 5-10 years.

    First favourite of the night (out of five) and consensus pick of the night.
