Congratulations to Eric for a great product which has proven so useful to the wine world. It's not a stretch to say he has become one of the better known, and perhaps influential, oenophiles out there. I'm fortunate to have met him and become friends with him through the BB (if for no other reason to know the guy people kept mistaking me for). Thank you for sharing the wines, and creating the monster which tracks my obsession.
For the record, I wrote up my notes before Eric posted. This is at least the second time I've agreed with him (and Goldberger) on scores. Is my palate becoming Quilcedized?
Thanks again!
Adam
1996 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 95 Points
France, Champagne
This is a wonderful young Champagne. The nose is dominated by chalk, oyster shells, stones, and peach. There is a TON of minerality here, and the palate is full of peach, citrus, dirt, and sweet vanilla on the long finish. My first experience with the 96 Dom, this is clearly a super wine with a great future.

1982 Château Léoville Poyferré 96 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
The nose on this thing! I didn't even have to stick my nose in the glass - the aromas sprang out of it with just an explosive cornacopia of graphite, tobacco, violet, cocoa, leather, the list just goes on and on. The color remains a dark purple slightly orange and the edges. And the palate is lush with cherry, pepper, and smoke. It's drinking great right now, but will continue to evolve and last for another 15 years easy. Super.
