Nose of cherry and cranberry with herbal notes, mid is bright, red currant, raspberry and tart cranberry. Nice textural quality especially in the mid. Quite light but with a rustic touch. good acidity and very refreshing on the finish

i am always a huge fan of the Saperavi grape in the FLX. I think it provides a rustic but deep red wine - one that has both immediate appeal and mid term aging potential. The wine spent 6 months in Hungarian oak - and it does show a touch of the sweet cedar note up front. But the driving note is sweet blue and black fruit. Rich plum and earthy blueberry notes. Ripe core, tart and juicy. I personally would give it at least 6mo to a year more but it is already delicious.

2016 was a great year for deep red wines in the FLX, and this is another example of that. Rich plum, hint of savory herbs, tannic and rustic in the mid palate. Loads of power and rich black fruit, with a beautifully rustic texture on the finish. Needs time to come together.

Floral nose, sweet yellow peach, passion fruit, hint of herb in the mid. Light, salty and stony palate, zesty with a hint of pectin on the finish. While the front shows yellow stone fruit, the back is brighter - white peach and pear with savory herb.

My favorite of the three single vineyards we tried from 2018. lemon, apple and wet stone on the nose. with time - a touch of savory herb. Bright mineral mid palate, grapefruit and sage, wider toward the finish. The long finish has a lovely note of juicy citrus and spice. obviously in need of time but already a beauty.

this is the second vintage of Peach Orchard for me, and it shows the bright peachy note again! Lighter than 17, with white peach , gooseberry and slate. Hints of green apricot and elegant softer texture. Even though it is quite dry - the softer texture and the sweeter stone fruit give it a feinherb feel.

in need of time - more so than the single vineyards (as proven to us by Rick who pulled out a second bottle that has been open for several days - and it showed much brighter and crisper). exotic nose, passion-fruit, apricot, apple, white and yellow peach, cardamom, bright mouthfeel - tugs at the cheeks long citrus finish. needs time.

always a fun wine - this one is softer, with strawberries, light herb on the nose and a touch of candied rhubarb. the finish is juicier, brighter, leaving a fresh tangy feeling.

interesting wine that needs a bit more time for a better integration of the oak. Bright, juicy citrus fruit, ripe core. savory herb. Oak is a bit prominent on the nose and palate for me but i am very sensitive to that.

love it. Fantastic, fun and "drink now" red. 60% co-ferment of Merlot, Blau, Cab S and Cab Fr (thus - 4 track) This is a cerasuolo-like wine (not in color but in texture) - red berries, sweet raspberry, cherry. the whole cluster adds savory herb. There is an iron note in the mid, tangy bright fruit, lusher toward the back with cherry and softer texture. must try. dont put it away. dont take it too seriously - the wine is playful and so much the better for it.

even better than the 17 - this is a beauty! Nose is aromatic, sweet peach, perfume. the palate is quite textural from the amphora and skin contact, but also full of bright citrus and stone fruit. long and delicious - the texture would let this wine pair well with almost any food.

wow. with 11g of RS and 8.5 of acidity this sits right where my favorite "drier" style Rieslings fall. Spicy, yellow peach, quite floral. Ripe sexy mid palate with a hint of cream before a long bright and tangy finish. would love to sit with a glass of this (and will!)

this is an impressive wine - stylistically closer to the Trimbach gewurz from Alsace. Roses, subtle lychee tones, palate is riper and broader, ginger, red berry, rose water, but bright, for all the ripeness. serious and powerful. IF this is year one - i cannot wait to see more!

80 % malo in neutral oak (5-8 years old). 20% SS. light vanilla note on the nose quickly blows off, revealing citrus and white flowers. Mid is ripe with a hint of butter, broad with lemon custard. this was on my "must try" - my reason for the visit in the first place. I am a fan of well made gewurz and its it not often i get one i am really excited about. This one fits the bill. Ripe and juicy on the nose, with lychee taking charge, and rose petals close behind. this is a shameless gewurz - floral and loving it. full malo. Elegant, velvety texture in mid, rounder and softer but the same passion-fruit and mango notes. more elegant and softer than 17 but quite lovely.

40% stem inclusion. deep cherry tones on the nose, ripe and serious. stems are slightly evident on opening - giving a hint of herbal tone. but the cherry dominates, sweeter at the front and more powerful, darker and tarter toward the back. hint of spice toward the finish. really good but needs time.

combination of large format oak and SS. Very floral nose, ripe citrus, hint of buttery note in the mid, but a light, bright wine. 100% malo yet keeps itself very fresh. long elegant finish. some mineral notes. needs time but very good.

Very serious from the start, mosel feinherb feel (11gRS/8g acidity) - savory herb (sage?) light peach. hint of yellow grapefruit and melon. more pear and peach on the back with a hint of cream.

once again - my favorite riesling here. ethereal, elegant expression. Mineral, white peach, soft yellow apple and pear, juicy and flinty toward the finish adding a savory and salty note. Really good!

Excellent “calling card” wine - slate and white peach on the nose, revealing more pineapple with time. Quite bright in the mid with citrus, especially yellow grapefruit, grassy herb and fresh acidity leading to a zesty finish. Delicious.

This is a beautiful wine - especially impressive knowing the tough year. Made in a kabinett feinherb style with just a hint of sweetness and cream in the mid palate. Nose of exotic peach and stone fruit, mid palate follows through with white peach, slate and a kick of ginger. Hint soft toward the back palate which is its only flaw. Can’t wait to see more!

(A) referring to Auslese, though technically this is a beerenauslese. This speaks the language of Mosel to me. Asparagus and exotic ripe fruit - apricot, peach and plum on the nose, dripping with honey. Mid is candied white peach, apricots and stone. Definitely on the sweeter side but keeping a savory Ashe with herb and freshness underlining the fruit. This needs some time but plays the FLX Mosel card vs the Pfalz card of Wiemer Joseph select. Very impressive!

Peaches (yellow) and herb on the nose, creamy lemon and lime notes in the mid, with hints of tangerine. Very easy to love wine - just the right amount of RS to please. This is likely to improve and develop in short to mid term.

Wow! One of three I tried today (the other two are not even bottled yet). True eiswein - with the clean grapes left hanging. Very impressive - could have easily come from Germany. Orange marmalade, candied orange, apricot and savory green peach. Finishes with a tangy sour plum. Not very sweet for all the obvious sugar, really well balanced. Perhaps missing that last spike of acidity but that’s nitpicking! The other two were even more impressive- brighter and (one of them - picked at 50 brix) even more powerful.

White pepper, grass, floral notes, dry in the mid with just a hint of sweet citrus on the back softening the finish. Quite lovely and looking forward to how this wine will show in better vintages.

This started out as two wines, a Pinot rose and a cab fr/Merlot one. But they came together to supplement each other instead. Intriguing, showing softer side of raspberry and strawberry fruit with a hint of sweet citrus on the palate.

Made from grape NY 81.0315.17 - a cross of Cayuga and Riesling. Cotton candy, peach, with muscat-like notes on the palate but brighter, lighter. Unusual wine for sure - there is no one else making wine from this grape.

I absolutely adore what this grape does in FLX. Plums, pipe tobacco and raspberry on the nose, juicy bright red fruit on the palate, raspberry and savory herbs. Nice grip toward the back but not tannic. Lovely red wine - especially in the short term.

Classy, pencil lead, cassis and blueberry. Mid is ripe with red and blue fruit, velvety tannin, but rather powerful at this stage. Good concentration. Needs a few years.

One of three ports tried. This is the only one bottled so far - the driest of the three. 80% cab franc and 20% cab sauv. Nose of dry cherry, the palate though is ripe and juicy with plums and figs, but leading to a quite refreshing almond finish that feels dry and refreshing. The second port is Saperavi and Cab Franc - sweetest of the three with a PX Sherry feel - dates and figs galore. Long and kept fresh by a note of savory herbs. Very cool! The third is in the middle as far as sweetness level - a merlot port. Candied plums and dry cherries, with a sweet herb component that speaks to Benedictine, finishing on a savory note.
