Introduction
Exactly one year after dinner with Saskia do I encounter a vertical of Lafite again. There is some variation with my prior experience to some of the wines, but mostly on the upside. Ex-chateau bottles are of truly stellar qualities and conditions. Many thanks to the organization.

“Monster”. There is some star acidity and almost lean-like uneven ripeness due to discrepancy between vineyards at harvest. Lovely showing, backward with much freshness. 96-97

There is some underripe fruit, a bit green, quite fragrant, violet, more soil and stone. Very precise and fresh with great sweet spice finish. According to trusted source, this is similar to 59’ and should age great. 95

65% Merlot blend gives this wine a really interesting and light profile that can potentially be mistaken as, for its Burgundian attitude, Rayas? Fairly green, bell pepper, honey-like sweetness, heading towards a stop on the clean palate. 93

Graceful wine, so composed with a variety of flowers, pencil box, soft spice and sweet fruit. Incredibly youthful with a very complete palate. 97

Ex-Chateau, much better than previous two encounters. Classic darker vintage. Complicated nose but delicate profile, complete pencil box, very light in its approach. 96

Ex-Chateau. Almost ethereal profile, very old school brewed fruit, classical cigar nose and a whole bouquet. Focused palate, concentrating to a single point and a delicate finish. 97
