Introduced to this experience by a true Burghound. Sushi-Ko has fabulous sushi and a very selected wine list strictly from Burgundy (Becky Wasserman Selections). We went there twice in two days and had similar experiences..David Zhane selected the menu and we selected the wines...perfect. Background on Sushi-Ko at http://www.jamesbeard.org/events/2004/06/005.shtml and their site at http://www.sushiko.us/ details the wines
Started with Eunagi Tatsutage, then slightly seared white tuna, flounder carpaccio, fabulous choice sushi (toro, octopus, sake, hamachi, and uni), lobster with secret sauce, and finished with soft shells
What an experience...amazing suchi and wonderful burgundies; skipped the wasabi for this meal
1999 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Nicely structured, but closed up a bit, needs decanting or more bottle time....impression a bit austere, reminds me of Jim Davis' Arcadian style, in contract to it Grand Cru big brother
