Introduction

Time to enjoy St. Julien Bordeaux and Ribeye Steaks.

Flight 1 - St. Julien Bordeaux (3 Notes)

Great pairing-Bordeaux and Alex's famous Ribeye Steaks.

  • 1990 Château Gruaud Larose 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Nose of mild barnyard, red cherry, black cherry, black berry, cigar box, and saddle leather, best nose from start to finish of the 3 St. Julien today, same on the palate, medium/big body plus, very tasty, great legs, slowly dripping in the glass suggest easily hold another 10 years but at peak drinking now, mouth filling fruit, always a favorite of mine, long, long, flavorful finish.

  • 1990 Château Léoville Las Cases 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Nose of black cherry, briar, black currants, and dry earth, same on the palate, tasty, nose and palate showed this bottle to be slightly tired and at peak drinking, cork was soft, completely saturated, and I almost pushed it into the bottle while opening, showed sediment coasting about 35% of the bottle, big body, at the 90 minute mark showed its best, mouth filling fruit, good concentration with slightly brooding fruit today, and a long, flavorful finish.

Nose of black berry, black cherry, red cherry, and roasted coffee grounds, opened slowly but steadily and finally showed a good nose at the 40 minute mark, same on the palate, big body, tasty, smooth, slight hint of very, very soft tannins on the midpalate, and medium/long finish, at peak so enjoy anytime the next 5 years.
