France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Regrettably, this was not a great showing for this wine. Drank single blind it was quite clear this was the 2001 Clos des Papes. It seemed to be fading, had rugged and rustic elements of anise and horse funk.
Drank single blind, I guessed the wine correctly because I assumed Miner would be modern Napa of good pedigree and flashy. That's what this was. Blue fruit, tobacco, modern, plummy fruit, nice earth. 92 or higher based on your preferences.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Drank single blind, I brought this and guessed it correctly. I have a feeling Roger Sabon is a bit more modern producer and this wine would agree. Flashy red to almost blue fruit. Kirsch, herbs, earth. This is drinking well now, although not a rockstar, and I really hope it will age well, but I don't know if it will.
2007 Bergström Riesling Dr. Bergstrom 90 Points
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
Drank double blind, I guessed riesling. It had nice acid and sweetness, plenty of fruitand a fair amount of fusel.
