La Trompette, Chiswick

Deep garnet, pale garnet core. Blackcurrant fruit, cedar, gravel, just a touch of tobacco. Medium bodied, classic, linear, deep and long, still underpinned by a vein of firm tannin but all in balance, fresh acidity, long lightly grippy finish. Excellent, touching outstanding.

Deep garnet/ruby core. Nose shows rich dark fruit, spice, touch of meat. A little sweaty at first. Medium/full bodied, mouth-filling on initial entry, rich blackcurrant fruit, spice, hint of leather, quite low acidity, tannins pinch a bit on the end but excellent.

Medium/deep garnet. Deep and meaty nose, yet aromatic too. Black pepper. Medium/full bodied, quite soft and luxurious on the palate, meaty dark fruit, black pepper, lovely fresh acidity, long. Outstanding, ready.

Slightly reticent on the nose, but there is some lovely dark fruit, black olive, with attractive saline notes. It's medium/full bodied on the palate, quite lean and muscular but with much to enjoy and admire, dark fruited, spice, soil, firm tannins, vibrant acidity, good length grippy, soily finish. Gives the impression that it's just starting to loosen and unfurl.

Deep gold/amber colour. Nutty nose, caramel, butterscotch, some underlying ripe apple. Medium/sweet, attractive fresh acidity, quite long. Lovely, a great match with the cheese tart.
