Popped-and-poured. In Dauvissat 2009 flight. More mature to start vs Forest, but this held up through the evening, even if disappointing for its pedigree and age.
Popped-and-poured. In an otherwise disappointing Dauvissat 2009 flight. Ripe and rich start that is nearly opulent, but maintains it Chablis sensibility and brightness from the middle forward. Very powerful with a very long, chiseled finish. By far the best bottle of this wine I have ever enjoyed.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Very ripe black fruit with good freshness, very good concentration, just not much nuance. I typically think of Malconsorts to be a wine of great energy and textures, but that is not the case for this 2003. Second time I have had this wine (previous was in 2013) with consistent impressions.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
My first time trying this wine, and this is an impressive 2003. Clearly ripe with equal proportions of red and black cherry with savory five spice throughout. Firm tannins and brightening acidity to start, the tannins got a bit more assertive after the bottle had been open 2+ hours. Very good now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Popped-and-poured as a replacement for a corked bottle, this was very "Old School" with firm tannins and some awkward, rustic textures. Very enticing and classic aromas, palate is also good but less cohesive or harmonious.
2017 Jean-Claude Ramonet Pernand-Vergelesses Les Belles Filles Blanc
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses
Another bottle was very reductive for at an hour. Lots of potential, but I won't open one of my bottles until at least 2023 or later.
