Roasted beetroot with goat cheese and rocket salad for the Sancerre.
Slow cooked lamb shoulder for the reds.
Cheese selection included - mould rind soft goat cheese, aged hard goat cheese, truffled pecorino, truffled Manchego, Bulgarian cow and sheep kashkaval.
Salami - French saucisson - truffled, with pistachio and with perigold walnut.
Stellar line up, food friendly wines, each one in quite a distinctive style.

Pears and apples, refreshingly easy to drink, joyful. Fair price @£19.99, but no way for the regular price of £39.99(from Majestic)

2019 de Ladoucette Sancerre Comte Lafond 92 Points

Very good Sancerre, with a nice balance between freshness, minerality and fruit. Nice persistence throughout, it can easily be my new reference label for this appellation.

2007 Tenuta L'Illuminata Barolo Tebavio 94 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Double decanted 4 hrs in advance. Sweet spices (clove, cinnamon), tobacco, dried fruits and a touch of menthol. Savoury, lean and full of energy. This is drinking very well now.

2006 Barone Ricasoli Casalferro Toscana IGT 95 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
Such a pure fruit that is screaming merlot, plums with that velvety caressing feeling I associate with home, and all of it from the moment you put your nose in the glass until the finish. There is a Tuscan twist as well, some sangiovese fruit + the usual tobacco and forest floor, but Merlot is the star here, and it is a top-class act. In the sweet spot for drinking now and the next 5y.

2009 Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Excellent now, with vibrant fruit, freshness, and finely tuned balance. Wood is fully integrated. I was really enjoying the energy throughout, pure joy. And again, very impressed how the village level Burgundy is showing here - just entering optimum drinking window IMO.

Oh, lovely again, with that clean and focused fruit - quince, peach and apricot - of great purity.
