Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2001 Andrew Will Sorella 91 Points

    USA, Washington

Very BIG wine, rich, smooth and complex. Thick texture coats your mouth and gives a very long finish. Three of five people chose this as wine of the night.

  • 2002 DeLille Cellars Syrah Doyenne 88 Points

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley

A very classy style, not a fruit bomb. Smooth tannins, clean fruit but a lot of oak. You could tell this had a good pedigree, but it just missed the mark. 15.3% alcohol was evident with some heat on the finish. Finished third out of three wines on the night.

  • 2002 L'Ecole No. 41 Apogée Pepper Bridge Vineyard 92 Points

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley

Bold and spicy. Not as smooth as the Sorella but had a more distinct personality that I admire. The pepper bridge fruit has a "pepper" spice characteristic that really stands out when you taste this wine. Complexity is sorting out the fruit from the spice flavors. Finish is medium length. Two of five people chose this as the best wine of the night.
