Introduction

O Tio Góe propicou esta degustação fantástica.

Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2001 Viña Cono Sur Cabernet Sauvignon 20 Barrels 89 Points

    Chile, Maipo Valley

Intense red rubi color. This cab is very typical chilean style, mentol on the nose, ripe fruit. Good body and a balanced structure, should get better with another couple of years in the bottle, very young now.

  • 2002 Achával-Ferrer Quimera 89 Points

    Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo

Intense and bright rubi color, no age. The nose is a little mixed up, the unique blend made it a no personality wine. The varieties didn't blend in that well. It shows good body and structure but something didn't quite reach the right point. It's elegant and persistent but for me the winemaker has still some work to figure out on the blend.

  • 2001 Bodega O. Fournier Alfa Crux Blend 91 Points

    Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco

Dark rubi, shiny and live. The nose varied a lot since the first sense. Started out with some wet earth and musgo and latter revealed the secondary aroms of caramel, toasted and sweeter notes. Very powerful on the palate, quite similar to Rioja style, very pleasant, could use a little more acidity so it could age beautifuly.

  • 1985 Casa Ferreirinha Douro Barca Velha 90 Points

    Portugal, Douro

Red rubi with some aging but incredibily not much, eventough we let it rest upwards it still had some floating sediment, opaque. The nose made me recall port wine. The palate revealed still some strong tannin, this wine is still young! Let it rest for another 10 years at least.

  • 1990 Château Mouton Rothschild 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Some good sign of aging is present. The nose is very complex, barn, leather, game, cigarbox. The palate reveals it has reached it's top. I would guess it's downhill from here, some interesting propolis on the palate, it never ends, goes on forever. Only the Lafite beat him.

  • 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Intense, beautiful dark rubi with brick borders. The nose was so complex, still some good signs of fruit alongside all the cedar, graphite, leather, so many things. The palate is perfectly balanced, a gorgeous wine. I would say it has further aging to the top, but one can already get lost on this masterpiece.

Closing

O Lafite foi o grande vencedor na minha opinião, a maioria prferiu o Mouton que se mostrou mais maduro e pronto. No novo mundo (que diferença gritante! o destaque foi o Acrux.
