  • 1991 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Another great bottle of the 91 Chambertin. Great vintage, great producer, great vineyard - all coming together perfectly. Loved it. Not decanted in advance, opened at dinner then enjoyed over three hours.

  • 2001 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

The least impressive of our quartet (91,01,02,05) and therefore the biggest disappointment. It was strict and closed relative to many fantastic bottles I've enjoyed over the years. Nothing particular seemed off, it just was "fine". Probably the bottle. Decanted briefly around 5pm, then enjoyed over a three hour dinner.

  • 2002 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

In a word, sexy. But I tend to think that about many 2002 red burgs. Loved it. Decanted briefly around 5pm, then enjoyed over a three hour dinner.

  • 2005 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Added to a Rousseau Chambertin mini-vertical primarily due to all the great notes here. Unlike many 2005's, this has entered its drinking window. Having said that, it is clearly in the very early stages of that window. Deep, rich, structured. A very good wine. Decanted briefly around 5pm, then enjoyed over a three hour dinner.
