Somewhere between the Girardin and de Montille wines in terms of color, weight, and greenness. Tangy black and blue fruit with a citric edge. Best balanced of the 3 wines, but even this is somewhat harsh on the finish. Good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Healthy light ruby center. Spicy floral notes. Elegant, earthy feel with excellent red fruit but a cooler flavor profile along with subtle stem inclusion tones. Although still young, it is approachable and very enjoyable. Its almost silky feel and suppleness set it apart (above) the three Beaune Premier Crus tased before it since each of those had something out of place. Excellent wine.
2018 Pierre Girardin Beaune 1er Cru Les Épenottes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Unusually deep and dark. Big, woody, forward berry fruit. There is some cooler green to leaven things, but this is still more New World in style.

2017 Domaine de Montille Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Light color. Dry, peppery, stemmy, and full of soil. There is some light red fruit lurking, but this is just too lean and tart.
