This tasting popped up on my radar - I knew nothing about the retailer - so I thought I'd give it a go.
This was run by the guys who used to run Bishop Sessa, a few interesting wines. Nice night.

2020 Creamery Chardonnay
USA, California
Oh it's a throwback USA Chardonnay. All butterscotch, sweet oak spice, toasted coconut, a touch of almost pineapple sits beneath this artifice. Juicy, buttery, pineapple, coconut, slightly woody bitterness on the finish. Fairly silly nonsense. Fun

2020 Atlas Wines The Spaniard
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley
bold, slightly baked red berry fruit - not jammy though, more in the slightly overcooked compote space, shows as strawberries and raspberries, there is a pinch of sweet spice and non intrusive alcohol prickle complete the nose. Clean. And it's more of the same in the mouth, more fleshy than juicy, the fruit saturates the palate, tannins are lightweight and silky, simple, clean, pleasant, fruit forward quaffer - a fault picker would point to the lack of acidity but this is perfectly acceptable.

2018 Quarry Hill Wines Five Rows Natural Sparkling
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
wild ferment funkiness meaty, a little pear and apple, a little sickly note, scary nose. Massive foamy frothy mousse dominates proceedings, tiny of touch of pear, quite belchy stuff - possibly a little too much sugar left on bottling?

2015 Quarry Hill Wines Sparkling Shiraz
Australia, New South Wales, Southern New South Wales, Canberra District
Muted, slightly spirituous blackberry with a little volatile wood glue underpin as well as a touch of jubiness. That volatile translates to the palate supported by black berry, talc textured tannins are drying smidge of residual sugar. Not for me.

NV Coates Wines Shiraz Fortified
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Oxidised, savoury note over black fruits, cream, a little fig, raisins, caramel and walnuts with a fair alcohol prickle on the nose. Thick, lusciously sweet, black fruits, liquorice, toffee made with Muscovado sugar, raisins, slight prunes, plenty of alcohol warmth on the finish. It's all quite shouty, alcohol a little too high for what's going on.
