Incredible concentration combined with poise, tension and precision. Add to that, a lovely array of orchard fruit, minerality, sea breeze and light honey notes. Great length.
Still just not my cup of tea, but in this vintage and at this age, their is solid freshness to the fruit. Probably still too young for Chave Blanc purists ...
A sensational bottle. Decanted for ~60 minutes before we tasted. Towering, penetrating aromatics of dried black fruit, smoked meat, old leather, tapenade and ground black peppercorns. The palate has terrific concentration and freshness, with all kinds of layers and complexity. Continued at this level for an hour+. Wow.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
A lovely bottle of at peak Vosne 1er with plenty of lush fruit that is filled with spice. Nice black tea and earth notes adding complexity. Should hold at this level for a decade.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Took some time to stretch it's legs and open up. When it did very classic meaty Gevrey smoke and spice laced throughout still fresh and concentrated fruit. In it's peak window, with some air, and should hold for a decade+.
A sensational bottle wine that dazzles on every level. Gorgeous pure fruit is concentrated and so silky. Lovely layers of flavor from sweet red cherry and plum, to tobacco, to spice, to florals, to earth and leather. Wow. Incredibly long. A Barbaresco for the ages.
A very good bottle that held its own with a near-perfect 90 Giacosa SS Red Label. Significant concentration of cherry and plum fruit nicely accented by florals and emerging smoke/tar. Still on the young side though quite approachable with some air.
Quite impressive for its concentration of powerful fruit and yet balanced without a hint of roastedness. Tannic structure is still firm and works with the dense, rich fruit. Better in 3-5 years, I'd hope as the components settle in a little more.
My first time with an Egly of this age. Fizz is subtle. Fruit is evolved and shows lots of earthen and mushroom complexity. Intriguing in the style but prefer my Champagne more fresh and effervescent.
NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Edition 160eme 93 Points
France, Champagne
Drinking fresh as a daisy with lots of nice toasty fruit and rich concentration. Better with air. Still in a youthful peak drinking window.

1985 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
A tad bit dirty and funky so the Vosne fruit struggled to shine on the nose. Better purity on the palate. Just ok.
